FAQ
Q/ Why?
A/ Because!
Q/ OK, seriously -what’s the point of all this? Why ANOTHER webcomic floating in cyberspace?
A/ Well, unlike most webcomics, we are actually aiming for syndication one day. That’s right, we want to be in the paper. We still think its a great way to reach a lot of readers, and we just want to share the comic. We really love the characters we’ve created, and Monica’s art style is really unique - among comics we’ve seen at least. So we’ve decided to spend the first year (or five) online, getting everything fine-tuned. Then we’ll see. In the end, if we only are ever online, and we are the only ones who ever read it, we’ll still be happy. We just love making a comic. Its that simple in the end.
Q/ If you get syndicated down the road, would you plan on abandoning the website?
A/ No way. Actually, all the major paper comics have websites these days. Us being able to keep the site would be a top priority for us.
Q/ Don’t you know that if you syndicate, the syndicate company owns your creation?
A/ We’ve read that, and its a huge concern to us if its the case. Our opinion is that we will cross that bridge if it comes up. Perhaps in a couple years, there will be a way to syndicate and retain enough ownership to make it a fair balance. Perhaps self-syndication will become the next big thing? Maybe we stay online forever? All we know is that we would love to get our comic in the good old fashioned paper - the same ones we read every morning over our coffee. We also want to retain creative ownership. We just hope to someday make all that work together.
Q/ What about censorship? You are so limited with what you can say in papers.
A/ Yes - editors and the average newspaper readers will both make sure you never get away with going beyond where they draw the lines. Thats OK with us. If you read our comic, we don’t tend to go near the lines anyway, so its not a huge stretch.
Q/ Are the characters going to age?
A/ No - we plan to basically freeze them where they are in life as its what we know best, and provides the most laughs. No more kid characters are planned, although we may introduce other new characters along the way like friends, family, and a talking toaster. OK, I lie - no talking toasters.
Q/ Who’s your web host?
A/ www.dreamhost.com
Q/ My question isn’t on here!
A/ Email us at nick@alexandcrista.com or monica@alexandcrista.com and we’ll try to get it added and answered!
